Karin, I’ve seen your work at the LaConner Quilt and Textile Museum where it’s currently on exhibit. As I came down the stairs from just seeing your incredible art, a woman walking upstairs told me “pick up your jaw!” I must have looked as stunned as I felt. Your works are incredible. I’d also like to know if you teach anywhere.

I would be interested in teaching in about another year. Starting sometime in 2010 perhaps? My time is completely committed between now and then.
I have gallery shows at Well Street in Fairbanks, AK in July 2009, the Artworks in Fairbanks, AK in November 2009, and the Bunnell Street Gallery in Homer, AK in May 2010. I’ve also been selected for the 2009 Artist in Residence program for Denali National Park, AK.

I’m a volunteer at the LaConner Quilt and Textile Museum and I just wanted to tell you how much joy you have brought to the Museum. I usually work in the gift shop and can tell you that after people view your exhibit on the third floor, they come directly down and buy your lovely cards. Your work is inspiring, beautiful and you have taken quilting into a new dimention and direction. My question is, how do you get your bird applique so flat on the sheer silk. Do you use a stabilizer? Your work is so techniquely expert, ethereal and delicate. I have heard several people say this is the best exhibit ever for Tulip Time, which is in full swing in Skagit valley. Thanks for sharing your amazing work with us.

While visiting the Tulip Festival, I stopped at the LaConnor Quilt & Textile Museum. Your exhibit on the third floor was gorgeous!! I didn’t want to leave! I kept going back through them and each time I discovered another awesome technique that you used! I loved your use of organza and other textiles. Truly inspiring artwork!

OMG, Karin! I just saw the show in LaConner yesterday and today I’m writing to all my friends, even ones who are across the country, to recommend that they find a way to come and see your work in person. Your photos are very good, but not even the MOST professional photograph could begin the capture the effects of the layers and textures. The lighting and the way they are hung in LaConner allow one to appreciate the depth and the hidden beauties of the layers. This one and “A Time to Dance – July 19″ are now my all-time-favorite art quilts in the whole world. As someone who has been teaching at the Quilt Festivals in Houston, Chicago and Long Beach for many years and therefore seen many highly acclaimed quilts, these two top the lot of them. On our way home yesterday, my quilting friend and I decided that you are Super Woman. We hope you “take it all in!” Thanks for showing your work here! Robin A.

My most favorites of the work I saw in LaConner are “A Time to Dance – July 19″ and “A Time to Dance – Sept 9″… I’m commenting again, because of your magnificent fireweed. I have never seen it done so well… paintings, drawings, photography, quilts… you have captured the pure essence of fireweed! One of the other commenters used the word ethereal… a perfect word for the organza layers, each with its unique part in your story. Can you tell that I’m smitten?! Robin A.
